I was listening to the radio last Wednesday and one of the segments of this 3-hour stint I was listening to, be to name the top three songs you wouldn’t want to hear on the radio on Christmas Day. Most of the listeners texted they don’t want to hear the “Spaghetti Song”, or anything from the “SexBomb Dancers”. I admit, the song may imply other sensual/political matters so this may be one of the reasons why they don’t want to hear this, or, because it is being played over and over and over again, that people anywhere whether they are on a jeepney, in the malls or stuck in their rooms, can sing the song…word per word. “Ispageting pababa pababa ng pababa, ispageting pataas pataas ng pataas…” … “1 plus 1 equals 2, 2 plus 2 equals 4, 4 plus 4 equals 8, doblehin ang 8, tayo’y mag-Otso-Otso!” (uuyyy, they sang it…)

"Oh, how everything
was against me then.
Even termites made
their way to my
bedroom. They ate
the mat and destroyed
all my books. It was
distressing to think of
those books and the
yellow robes I used to
wear had holes in
them like my weeping
eyes..."
